World Environment Day
To encourage worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment, World Environment Day was celebrated on 5 June 2023. This year’s theme was Beat Plastic Pollution — a reminder that our actions on plastic pollution matter and that it is time to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
The programme started with tree plantation at the hands of faculty members and students.
International Yoga Day
“Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim. The better you practice, the brighter the flame.”International Yoga Day is observed every year on 21 June to celebrate the physical and spiritual benefits of this ancient practice. On 21 June 2023, students of Mahatma Vidyalaya celebrated Yoga Day with the theme “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — encapsulating our shared aspiration for One Earth, One Family and One Future. Children from Kindergarten to Class 10 took part.
Independence Day
Mahatma Vidyalaya proudly celebrated the 77th Independence Day on 15 August 2023. A beautiful programme was put together by the students — with patriotic songs, dances and a salute to the freedom we hold dear.
Krishna Janmashtami
Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna. According to the Hindu calendar, the festival falls on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadon. To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami was celebrated at Mahatma Vidyalaya on 7 September 2023 with great joy. The fragrance of flowers, the soothing aroma of camphor and the jingle of bells filled the air. Children dressed up as Krishna and Radha — complete with flutes and peacock feathers.
Kannada Rajyotsava
Rajyotsava Day is the state festival of Karnataka, observed on 1 November each year to mark the formation of the state. Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated at Mahatma Vidyalaya with gusto and joy on 1 November 2023 by our kindergarten children.
Annual Sports Day
On 25 November Mahatma Vidyalaya organised its Annual Sports Day. The day was filled with excitement, thrills, spirit and cheer. The day began with the flame-lighting ceremony, followed by the march past of all four houses (Blue, Red, Green and Yellow). Sports events held in parallel included Relay, Kabaddi, Volleyball and many more.
Annual Day
The Annual Day is the most anticipated event of the year — a chance for students to showcase their talents, build self-confidence and learn the value of teamwork. It is a day of dance, drama, music and discovery, where many a hidden talent is brought into the spotlight.
Makara Sankranti
A harvest festival celebrated across South India, Makara Sankranti falls on 14 January. The festival is known by different names across the country — Lohri in the North, Magh Bihu in Assam and Pongal in Tamil Nadu. As part of celebrations, our students enjoyed flying kites and clay-pot painting.
Farewell Day — Class 10
The management hosted a grand farewell for the students of Class 10 on 4 February 2024. Girls in their uniform sarees and boys in crisp black trousers and white shirts grabbed all the attention. Teachers welcomed the outgoing students with warmth, while parents watched on with pride. The highlight of the event was the presentation of mementoes by the Governing Body, with several students honoured as Best Outgoing Student for their exceptional contributions.
